A brief History about the very preserved art of Hand Embroidery, its relevance in many cultures & in Haute couture.
Embroidery is the art of decorating fabric using a needle.
Hand Embroidery has been around since the very start of human civilization, with the earliest traces found back in 30,000 B.C. The art of Embroidery was very popular in the time of Ancient Egypt amongst women who decorated clothing using metallic threads. Additionally, Solid gold sequins sewn into royal garments were found inside the tomb of Tutankhamun, revealing one of the oldest surviving examples of hand embellishments.
In the early 20th Century, the elements apart from threads that were used for embroideries included Sequins, Glass beads, Pearls, Quills, and Bullion Wire
Beads are thought to be one of the earliest forms of trade between members of the human race. The popularity of embroidery was very prevalent in European countries like Italy and France.
